MISSIONCantera is dedicated to bringing together public and private sector partners and resources in creating and implementing long-term, sustainable developmental and commercial activities in emerging economies. HISTORYCantera Partners grew out of cooperation between the Burlington Capital Group and Delphos International, beginning in 2000, to provide agribusiness and monetization services to non-profit development organizations in Central Asia. Cantera currently has in-country representation in Russia, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Liberia. Cantera's first project was to aid a non-profit partner in Afghanistan and Tajikistan by monetizing a Section 416(b) allocation of milk powder, and reconstituting a portion of it for direct feeding in schools in these two countries. In subsequent years Cantera began to provide monetization services to other non-profit food aid recipient organizations. The team has been involved in economic development based initiatives, such as the development of a dairy and juice processing plant in Afghanistan.Since inception, Cantera has monetized more than $90 million in commodities for our partners in the former Soviet Union, Africa, Central Asia and Southeast Asia. During the past 18 months Cantera has provided a range of additional services to our non-profit partners including proposal writing and organization of international conferences and workshops. Cantera's team also has experience in providing Monitoring and Evaluation and Strategic Planning services. |
